The mechanism of action of Botox produces paralysis of muscles by blocking presynaptic release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction (Lagueny, Burbaud, 1996).

In other words, Botox can deliver temporary, reversible and predictable relief in selected spastic muscles to allow normal positioning and functioning (Esquenazi, 2006).
